Koncertfilmen One Direction: This Is Us følger de fem drenge Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles og Louis Tomlinson, der alle deltog som solister i den britiske udgave af X Factor 2010, men blev sat sammen af dommeren Simon Cowell som en gruppe kaldet One Direction.
Bandet fik en 3. plads i TV-programmet, men dette var blot starten på deres rejse. I dag er One Direction en sand verdenssensation med millioner af super-dedikerede - oftest unge - fans, der følger deres idoler i tykt og tyndt.
På trods af bandets korte levetid har de allerede fået markeret sig som Justin Bieber-generationens svar på, hvad Take That og Backstreet Boys var i 90erne.
Filmen blander koncertoptagelser fra 02 Arenaen i London med bag-om-scenen-materiale, der fortæller bandets historie via interviews med drengene selv, deres familie samt deres fans.

Morgan Spurlock, the man behind 'Super Size Me' (2004), is the surprise director of this documentary on the highly successful British pop group. The band, comprised of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, shot to fame off the back of their appearance in the seventh series of 'The X Factor'. Following the show they signed to Simon Cowell's label Syco Records for the release of their debut album 'Up All Night' (2011), which soared to the top of the charts in both Britain and the USA. The documentary captures both the onstage and offstage lives of the boys, featuring a blend of behind the scenes and performance footage, as well as charting the origins of each member and the journey that led them to become part of the group. |
