GRIZZLY var den første "animal horror"-film, der fulgte i det pengestrømmende kølvand på Spielbergs mega-hit JAWS. Med indtægter på over 50 gange sit budget slog den rekord og lagde sig øverst på listen over de største independentsucceser i 1976. Da først to teenagepiger og siden en mor og hendes lille barn på brutal vis dræbes af en stor brun bjørn, sendes en bevæbnet gruppe af sted for at nedlægge det farlige vilddyr: Et seks meter højt og 1.000 kilo tungt uhyre med sylespidse tænder og kløer, der kan flå en voksen mand midt over... An eighteen foot, two thousand pound Grizzly bear terrorizes campers and hikers at a state park. This frustrates the head Park Ranger who decides to hunt it down. His efforts however are thwarted by the Park Supervisor and many drunken hunters drawn into the area. After the bear kills other campers - two rangers, a hunter and a little boy and his mother - the ranger employs his friend, a Naturalist, to find the bear and tranquilize it. But after he fails, the ranger goes in pursuit to finally kill it with any means necessary... with rifles and a rocket launcher! |
