The fondly remembered tales of Peter Rabbit and friends are emulated in design and spirit through top notch choreography (Sir Frederick Ashton) and costumes true to the warm and wonderful illustrations of the original books by Potter.
Opening with a young Beatrix Potter in the heart of the English landscape the dancing darlings are introduced to their life-like platform equipped with tufts of grass and hay. High jumping Jeremy Fisher springs into action and Squirrel Nutkin ignites the stage amidst a furor of scurrying mice and cunning pigs on pointe.
Peter Rabbit is as mischievous as ever as he dances happily across the stage having just raided the cabbage patch and Jemima Puddleduck begets drama and suspense as she narrowly escapes the dastardly designs of the fox with the duck casserole recipe.
The adventures are alive with same energy and passion of the books and feature unheard melodies from British Museum manuscripts, recovered and transcribed by composer John Lanchbery. As the characters waltz their way across set to the rhythm of the songs you'll join in with the merriment and hot step with the cast - a must see treat for the entire family. |
