Da Toshio ikke kommer i skole, tager hans lærer, Kobayashi, hen for at besøge ham. Toshios forældre er sporløst forsvundet og han er fuld af snitsår og blå mærker.
Kobayashi opdager, at Toshios mor har været forelsket i ham. Han finder moderen død, og hendes uhyggelige ånd begynder at hjemsøge ham. Toshios far indrømmer senere, at det er ham, der har myrdet såvel sin egen kone som Kobayashis gravide kone. Kobayashi bliver også dræbt, og der flytter en ny familie ind i huset. Men Toshios mors ånd hjemsøger stadig huset, og dermed fortsætter den uhyggelige cyklus med mystiske dødsfald...

Jealous of his wifes love for another man, a teacher from her high school, a man brutally kills his wife and young son. Searching for the son who has missed a lot of school, the teacher enters their house, only to find the dead ghost of his mother, and consequently has a heart attack and becomes a ghost himself. The story goes on to tell of the new tenants of the house and what they experience, and an investigation by two police officers into why so many people are dissapearing.
