Watched by millions of people round the world, the Boat Race is one of the most famous contests of all time, a titanic struggle between sixteen men of extraordinary strength, skill, courage and determination. But in 1987 it became a contest not between two ancient universities, but between 'arrogant' Americans and 'antiquated' Brits.

Oxford, stung by a humiliating defeat in the '86 race, enlisted five top Americans to turn the tide against Cambridge. True Blue tells the story of the ensuing battle over training and selection, and the 'mutiny' that shocked the world. A stunning re-enactment of the race itself, where Coach Topolski's young and inexperienced crew won a valiant victory against all the odds, is the climax to this Chariots of Fire on water.
