Beskrivelse:

Dian Fossey has become a modern legend. Passionate, fearless, and committed, her life ended like a Hollywood movie: with her brutal and mysterious murder. But there's much more to her tale of 19 years in Borneo than its tragic conclusion as this double feature DVD will show. Dian Fossey Part of a gorilla research study in Central Africa and armed with a will of steel, Dian overcame both the physical hardships and the loneliness to win the trust of the gorillas she was in Africa to study. Her reports from the field helped to debunk the animals' 'King Kong' image. By the early 1970s, gorilla poaching became big business, and Dian's role shifted from researcher to advocate. Some say that Dian's devotion to gorillas turned into an obsession that cost her her life. But despite the considerable personal and professional turmoil that marked her career, Dian Fossey succeeded in her underlying goal: to put the plight of Rwanda's mountain gorillas on the map. Mountain Gorillas: The Lost Film of Dian Fossey Dian devoted eighteen years to study gorillas in the mountainous rainforest of Volcanoes National Park. Less well-known, however, is Bob Campbell- wildlife photographer and filmmaker whose footage propelled Dian and the mountain gorillas into the international spotlight. Campbell was hired by National Geographic to film Fossey's work and from 1968 to 1972 he shot 70,000 feet of film. Unfortunately, most of it has never been seen. Now, National Geographic is unveiling this extraordinary glimpse into the world of the mountain gorillas and Dian s unique rapport with them in Mountain Gorillas: The Lost Film of Dian Fossey.
