Knocked Up (2007)
Slacker Ben (Seth Rogen) and up-and-coming career girl Alison (Katherine Heigl) meet at a bar and end up having a one night stand. Eight weeks later, Ben is shocked when Alison asks to meet up with him and reveals that she is pregnant. Despite having little in common, the two decide that they have to at least try to make some kind of relationship work for the baby's sake.
Superbad (2007)
Two socially inept teenage boys are about to graduate from high school. Having been accepted into different colleges, the two are forced to contemplate life apart - a concept that induces severe separation anxiety in them both. Evan (Michael Cera) is sweet, smart, and generally terrified. Seth (Jonah Hill) is foul-mouthed, volatile, and all-consumed with the topic of human sexuality. The film portrays their misguided attempts to reverse a lifelong losing streak with the opposite sex in one panic-driven night - that awful, humiliating night you cherish for the rest of your life.
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is a 40-year-old geek who works in an electronics store and seems content with his life and with his collection of comic books and action figures. But when his co-workers find out that Andy is still a virgin, they decide to set him up with a woman so he can finally have sex. After some horrendous dates, Andy meets single-mother Trish (Catherine Keener), a woman who genuinely seems to like him and who has just come out of a destructive relationship. But what Andy's friends don't know is that Trish isn't quite ready for a physical relationship with him yet, and that he's going to have to wait a bit longer before he can lose his virginity.
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby' (2006)
NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) is a national hero because of his 'win at all costs' approach. He and his loyal racing partner, childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly), are a fearless duo known as 'Shake' and 'Bake' by their fans for their ability to finish so many races in the #1 and #2 positions, with Cal always in second place. When flamboyant French Formula One driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen) challenges 'Shake' and 'Bake' for the supremacy of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby must face his own demons and fight Girard for the right to be known as racing's top driver. |
